Title Galang hka n lu ai lam (Why eagles do not drink water) with English translation
Description Translation (Seng Pan)
The story I am going to tell you now is about the eagles that couldn't drink water anymore. A long time ago, there was a dog. The dog gave birth to two humans. They became old enough. So, they got married. And each human lived separately. The poor mother dog went to the second daughter's house. "I am your mother," the mother dog said. Then, the second daughter replied, "You are not my mother. You are a dog. How could you be the mother of a human?" After that, she called her husband, and children and let them drive the dog out. The mother dog was in great sorrow for what her daughter did to her. So, she went to her eldest daughter. She said, "I am your mother." "Oh! You are my mother!" the eldest daughter said and warmly welcomed her. The daughter also took care of her. Since the second daughter's family beat the mother dog, she was such pain. Soon she passed away as she couldn't resist the pain anymore. The second daughter also died after her mother dog passed away. As she beat her mother, she also felt so much pain before she died. After that, her soul reincarnated in an eagle. That time, the eagle was so thirsty. While the eagle was flying, she looked for the water. And she saw the water was so clean. As she planned to drink the water and flew low, the water turned into blood. Therefore, the eagles cannot drink water until now because of the second daughter's sin.
