This is the story of a boy who traded his cow for a handful of corn seeds. Long ago, there lived a very poor widow and her young son. Their life was truly difficult, and they were burdened with debts. Moneylenders often came to demand repayment. But the mother and son had no money to give, so the mother decided to send her son to sell their only possession — a cow. On the road to the market, a man suddenly stopped the boy and said, “Trade your cow for these corn seeds.” “These seeds are worth far more than your cow.” Believing the man's words, the boy took the corn seeds home. When he returned, his mother was furious to see that he had brought back only seeds instead of money from selling the cow. The boy, deeply upset, threw the corn seeds into the field. That night, the two of them went to bed in sadness. But the next morning, the seeds the boy had thrown away had grown tall, and when they opened the corn, they found that the kernels were made of gold. With that gold, they repaid all their debts, and they lived happily and peacefully.
