Title Kanu hpe nyet ai gam ba (Gam Ba who denied his mother) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
The story I am going to tell you is about a man named Gam Ba, who refused to accept his mother. His mother loved him so much that she never remarried. She raised him alone by selling vegetables. When he grew up, he became a soldier. He never went back home after staying in the military camp. Therefore, the mother wanted to see him very much. She carried a bag that she bought and went to her son. When she arrived at the camp, she saw a man guarding the gate. She asked him, "Boy, is my son Gam Ba here?" He answered, "He's going outside for a while. I will let him know that you came, and I will get back to you." She said, "Alright. Please, let him know." And she went back to the place where she was staying. When Gam Ba returned to the camp, the gatekeeper said, "My friend Gam Ba, your mother was here just now. She said she wanted to meet you." Gam Ba said, "I don't have a mother." However, the gatekeeper went to Gam Ba's mother and told her that her son had returned. He said to her, "Gam Ba is back," and took her to Gam Ba. Then, Gam Ba and his wife argued. His wife angrily said, "You told me that you don't have any parents! How could you have a mother now?!" Gam Ba refused, "I don't have a mother." His mother heard what he said and was extremely upset. Then the gatekeeper felt pity for her and took her to his home. He let her stay at his home and took care of her. She gave him the bag she carried and said, "From today on, you are my son." She blessed him. Thanks to her blessings, his family grew richer and lived comfortably. Then Gam Ba grew jealous and went to his mother, saying, "Mom, I was wrong. Please forgive me. Come live with me." She said to him, pointing to his friend, "He is my child now. You are not my son anymore. He is my son now." The two friends had been very close in the past, but now they were arguing. Gam Ba accused his friend, "You deceived my mother!" His friend said, "I didn't deceive your mother. I brought your mother to you, but you refused, saying, 'I don't have a mother!" Your mother heard what you said and fainted, so I took care of her. I didn't take your mother away from you." He didn't let the old lady go with her biological son. People need to receive their mother's blessings, but he didn't, because he loved his wife too much and listened to her instead. Gam Ba didn't get his mother's blessings. This is the end of the story.
