Title Grai tsawm ai num kasha (The beautiful princess) with English translation
Description Translation (Htoi Awng)
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful girl in a country. She always wore a mask whenever she went outside. She did it because of her health. She covered all her face and showed only her eyes. There was a poor boy in that country. He had a magic cup. The cup could give everything that he wanted. One day, he saw the beautiful princess. Inside the cup, there was a genie. He could create whatever the poor boy wished. He could create a mansion if the boy wished for it. If the poor boy requested the money, the genie gave the money. One day, he secretly went to look at the princess. He told his mother that he wanted to marry the princess. So, his mother went to the palace and asked for the princess. The king said, "I will agree if you give me 300 visses of gold." The mother gave 300 visses of gold to the king. The king was greedy for gold and decided to let his daughter marry the boy. There was a minister whom the king trusted. At first, the king agreed to let the princess marry the minister's son. He completely forgot to discuss it with him. The minister said, "My king! You have promised me that you would let my son marry the princess. But how could you do that?" The king said, "I made a mistake because I was greedy for the gold. What should I do to cancel this wedding?" Then, the minister suggested, "Let's arrange the wedding for the princess and my son first before you arrange with that poor boy." The poor boy was there and heard everything they secretly told. He told his mother about that. Then, his mother went to the king and said, "You said that you would let the princess marry my son three months later. But now, you are planning to arrange your daughter's wedding with another man! How could you do that?" The king said, "I am sorry. I will prepare the marriage during these three months." So, she returned home. The poor boy requested the genie to eavesdrop on what the king and the minister said. So, the genie came out and went to the palace. After a while, the genie came back from the palace and said, "They are planning to kill you. They will hold a wedding the next day after they have killed you." The boy was shocked and asked, "What should I do then?" The genie gave an idea to him. He said, "I will give you this flower. You need to make the minister's son smell this flower. He will fall asleep when he smells the flower. Then, lock him in a box." The night before the wedding, the poor boy gave the princess a flower to pass to the minister's son. She gave it to him. When he smelled the flower, he fainted. The poor boy came secretly into the groom's room and put him into the box. It was a wedding day the next day. But the bridegroom was missing. The king did not want to be ashamed of. He didn't want people would talk ill about them. So, he let his daughter marry the poor boy. The poor boy requested the genie to give a new palace. The poor boy and the princess lived happily in the palace. They had got two children too. There was an evil wizard in that country. He wanted that magic cup so bad. He knew the boy had that magic cup. One day, that wizard shouted in front of the palace, "Here, you can change an old cup with a new cup." The princess didn't know that the old cup had a miracle power. She thought, "I will just exchange it with a new one." Then, she changed it. Meanwhile, the princess's husband was going hunting in a forest. This event happened while he was away from the palace. At that time, the wizard scrubbed the pot. When the genie came out of it, he ordered him, "Send the princess and her sons to another country." Then, the genie granted the wizard's wish. Their house disappeared too. The king heard that news and ordered his servants to catch his son-in-law. When his son-in-law was before him, he was mad at him and said angrily, "Where did you send my daughter? If you can't find my daughter within seven days, I will kill you!" The boy said, "I don't know what happened to my family. Everything happened while I was away." He was upset. Suddenly, he remembered his magic cup. But it was missing. He knew that the wizard stole it. There was another genie from the cup. So, he ordered him to find out the evil wizard's house. That genie told the boy that the wizard lived in the palace. The boy said, "Let's think of an idea how to take the magic pot back from the evil wizard. Can you find out what the wizard likes or dislikes?" They investigated even the wizard's sleeping time. After that, the boy prepared the gold cup, which had the same size and appearance as the magic cup. Then, he went to the king and said, "This is the gold cup. I'd like to gift this to you." The king happily accepted the gift. In fact, the boy hid the genie in that cup. The genie was trying to find out the wizard's room and every activity he did. One day, the king held a meeting and invited the wizard to join the meeting. On that day, the poor boy entered the wizard's room and changed with a gold pot. He took his magic cup back. The boy scrubbed it and asked, "Where are my wife and children? A genie from the pot appeared and said, "Your family are in another country." The boy said, "Okay. You take my family back." And he blew it. Surprisingly, his wife and children arrived just right there. He also requested to get his old palace. On the designated day, he brought his wife before the king. He said, "This kind of anxious event happened because of someone." The king was angry and said, "Who dares to do that?" The boy answered, "It's your evil minister. If you do not believe me, arrest him and asked the truth." Then, the king commanded his servants to catch the wizard. But the wizard said, "I'm just a traveller. I help people who don't know what to do. But I'm not a wizard." The boy said, "If you keep lying to us, I will have to ask a genie from the cup and let him tell the truth." Then, the wizard was scared and admitted that he was a wizard. The wizard confessed, "Yes, I'm a wizard. I sent the princess and her sons to another country." The king was furious and commanded his guards to kill the wizard. The king requested his son-in-law (The poor boy) "Please, forgive me. I misunderstood you. I'm so sorry." The poor boy forgave the king. They lived happily for the rest of their lives.
