Once upon a time, there was a king. He had three children. Four of them lived together. One day, the king thought to himself, "I should choose one person among my children to be the next king." He was thinking about how to choose one wisely. One day, he said to his children, "My children, come with me tomorrow. Bring your arrows and bows. We have somewhere to go tomorrow." The next day, he led his three children and reached a farm. At the farm, there was a big tree next to it. He told his children, "Look at that tree. What is on the tree?" They answered, "There is a bird." He told them, "I want that bird. Catch it for me." He told the eldest son, "Ma Gam, you catch it first." Then Ma Gam aimed at the bird with his bow, ready to shoot. "Don't shoot it yet," the king stopped him. The king asked him, "What do you see over there?" He answered, "I see the bird, the tree and the farm. And I see the sky." The king said, "Okay." "Ma Naw, you go catch the bird," he told the second son. When Ma Naw was ready to shoot, the king stopped him, saying, "Don't shoot." And he asked, "What do you see there?" Ma Naw said, "I see the tree, the bird and you." Then the king told the third son, "Ma La, you catch it." Before he shot, the king said to him, "Don't shoot it yet. What do you see there?" But Ma La didn't stop aiming at the bird and said, "I don't see anything. I see only the bird. All I know is if I shoot it at its heart, it will definitely die." And he shot it. The bird was killed when the arrow was shot at its heart. Later, they went back to the palace. The king was satisfied. He told his three sons, (He thought first before he said.) "The youngest son has the best and right decision. Only the person who is intelligent enough can rule my country." The king declared the youngest son as his successor to the throne.
