Title Gara mahtang tinang a kasha rai teng na (Which is their child) with English translation
Description Translation (Htoi Awng)
Once upon a time, there was an ugly man and a beautiful lady in a village. In the past, people didn't care that their daughter wanted to get married or not. If the man could give lots of bride price, they let their daughter get married to him. Kachin were like that in the past. The beautiful lady didn't want to marry him, but she had no choice. And there was a handsome man in that village too. He felt pity for the lady. He thought, "Such a beautiful lady got married to that ugly man. It's such a pity." Then, he went to the lady and said falsehood. But the lady was already a legal wife. She thought, "I want to have a kid of that handsome man." She had an affair with the handsome man. She had two children with that handsome man. Her ugly husband didn't know about their affair and felt so happy when his wife gave birth. The children were very cute too. The handsome man thought, "Even though I'm having an affair with the other man's wife, I don't have any legal wife. So, I will go to find a wife." On the other hand, the beautiful lady didn't want to bear a baby of her ugly husband. So, she took herbs not to get pregnant. After many years, she thought, "The man I loved didn't come to me anymore. I should give birth to a baby of my husband since he is my legal husband." When they got a baby, the baby was so ugly. He was totally different from the first two children. The husband said, "He couldn't be my son! The first two children are very beautiful and different from him. Whose child is he?" He was angry at her. Then, his wife said, "He is surely your son." The husband was shocked because of what his wife said. He thought, "She said that the child is surely my son. Then, what about the first two children? They are so beautiful unlike me. Anyway, they are the children of my legal wife. So, they are my children." He decided like that and lived happily with them. This is the end of the story.
