Once upon a time, there was a porcupine. The porcupine attacks the enemies with its quills. It uses ten to thirty quills to attack the enemies once. The boar and the bear picked up the porcupine quills. The boar picked up the quills and used them as knitting needles. The bear also used them as nails. It hung everything it needed on the quills. One day, the boar was knitting something for his children. The porcupine asked him, "What are you doing?" The boar replied, "I am making some clothes for my children. Winter is coming soon." The porcupine said, "I think I have seen the knitting needles that you are using." The boar said, "Of course, you do. They are your quills." The porcupine wondered, "Are they really useful?" The boar said, "Of course." The porcupine walked past the boar and met the bear later. It saw the bear hitting something everywhere. It asked, "What are you doing there?" The bear said, "I am making places to hang my things." The porcupine was curious and asked the bear, "What are those nails made of?" The bear said, "Don't be surprised. They are your quills." The porcupine made a comment, "My quills are really useful." And it went out to another place and saw a rabbit. The rabbit was boiling herbal medicine. The porcupine asked it, "What are you doing?" The rabbit answered, "Oh, I am making the medicine." The porcupine continued asking, "What kind of medicine?" The rabbit said, "I am making really effective medicine." The porcupine was curious and asked, "What do you use to make the medicine?" And it saw its quills in the pot. So it said, "I have seen these quills." The rabbit said, "They are your quills." The porcupine thought, "My quills must be really useful. I use them a lot to attack my enemies. That's a pity to lose my quills. I shouldn't have used them a lot. I won't use them often." So it just stayed inside its burrow. Meanwhile, the boar's knitting needles were broken. The boar didn't have anything to knit for his children. So it asked the porcupine, "Why don't you go outside these days?" The porcupine said, "I just don't want to go outside." The boar requested, "Can you give me one of your quills?" The porcupine said, "I don't want to give them free. Buy them." The boar angrily said, "I don't want to buy those quills. I can use bamboo sticks to knit too. I don't need your quills." And it went back. Soon, the bear came to the porcupine and said, "Why are you not going outside these days?" The porcupine said, "Yes, I just want to stay at home." The bear asked it, "Please give me two of your quills. I need some quills to hang my belongings." The porcupine said, "I don't want to give them free anymore. Buy them." The bear was angry and said, "I won't buy those quills. I can also use any spikes." Later, the rabbit came to the porcupine and said, "Can you give me some of your quills?" The porcupine said, "No, I don't want to. Buy them." However, the rabbit needed the quills so much that it said, "Okay. How much do I need to give you?" Then the porcupine said, "Give me one kyat." The rabbit gave one kyat to the porcupine and bought the quills. It said, "Why is it so expensive?" The porcupine said, "Of course. If you give me one kyat, I will give you my quill." When the rabbit gave it one kyat, it plucked one quill and gave it to the rabbit. The porcupine thought, "Since today, I should sell my quills without wasting them. I can make lots of money by selling them." Then it made a signboard and hung it in front of its house. But no one gave any interest in the board. Its friends; the boar and the bear didn't talk to it. They became strangers to it. It was confused by their actions. Later, it asked them, "Why don't you come and ask for my quills?" The boar said, "Yes, I don't need your quills. I use bamboo sticks to knit. It's really convenient to use." And it went to another place. It asked the bear, "Don't you need my quills to use them as nails?" The bear said, "I have some other spikes." Then the porcupine went to the rabbit and asked, "Are you not making any medicine now? Why don't you come and buy the quills? Don't you need my quills?" The rabbit said, "I have found a more effective root than your quills. I use it to make my medicine. I don't need your quills." No one talked to the porcupine welcomely like before. The porcupine was upset and couldn't sleep the whole night. It was thinking, "I won't have any friends if I behave like this." Then it plucked its quills the whole night. The next morning, it carried lots of quills and went to the boar. It said, "Take some of my quills and use them when you knit." The boar said, "No, I won't take them. These bamboo sticks are really convenient to use." However, the porcupine said, "Please take some of these quills." The boar said, "If you really want to give them, just leave two or three there." The porcupine said, "Take as many as you want." The boar happily accepted the quills. And the porcupine went to the bear and offered some of its quills. But the bear said, "I don't need them. I can use other spikes too." The porcupine said, "Take as many as you want." The bear asked it, "Are you not going to sell them?" It replied, "I don't want to sell them anymore. I will just give them free to you." And it went to the rabbit and gave some of its quills. The rabbit refused to take them and said, "I use some roots now. I don't need the quills." The porcupine said, "Just take as many as you want." The rabbit said, "If you really want to give them, just give me some. But aren't you going to sell them?" The porcupine said, "No. You guys don't talk to me happily because I sell the quills. So I don't want to sell them now. Just take my quills as many as you want. I just want to live happily and closely with you guys." It regretted its action. Later, all of them lived happily as before.
