Title Woi hte hkangse a lam (The monkey and the alligator) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
There was a monkey that stayed on the two trees. He ate fruits from the trees and spent his days swinging back and forth on those two trees. Later, he became friends with a crocodile. He gave some fruits to the crocodile. The crocodile also shared some fruits with his wife. He always left the fruits for his wife. His wife asked him, "Where did you get these fruits? They are really tasty." The crocodile said, "My friend Monkey gave me. He picks some fruits from his trees and shares some with me. They are indeed tasty." His wife was craving for the monkey's heart. She said, "I want to eat the monkey's heart. Bring it for me." The male crocodile promised his wife that he would take the monkey's heart. He told the monkey, "My friend, my wife said she would like to meet you. If you are okay, can you come with me to meet her?" The monkey rode on the crocodile's back to meet his wife, but on the way, he sensed that something was not right. So he told the crocodile, "My friend, I forgot to bring my heart. I left it on the tree. I need to take it. Let's go back first." They went back to the tree. The monkey climbed on the tree and said to the crocodile, "You are just so stupid. You don't know that I am lying to you! If I take my heart out, how could I be alive? I will die, definitely. You are so stupid!" Since then, they were apart. This is the end of the story.
