Title Damya masum a lam (The three robbers) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
The story I am going to tell you is about two robbers. Once in a village, there was a wealthy man. One day, he went into a dense forest. There were three bad, cruel robbers. They saw the rich man going in there. They knew that the man was really rich. They knew it. The old man took his two friends to rob the rich man. They saw him and robbed him. The robbers hit the rich man on the head and killed him at once. They took all of his money. The oldest man said, "I am so hungry. Let's go buy some food and eat." The oldest man continued, "Go buy some food." He ordered the youngest man to do it. The youngest man said, "I don't want to go there and buy food alone." Then the older men said, "It's okay. Just go to another village. We are hungry." The oldest man gave some money to him and ordered him to buy it. Then the youngest man went there to get some food. He walked to another village and bought some rice and snacks. Meanwhile, the two older men who were together had a bad idea. They thought to kill the youngest man. They discussed, "If we have to divide this property equally for three people, we will get just a little. So let's kill him." On the other hand, the youngest man also had a cruel thought. He thought, "I will get only a small amount of money if I have to share it with those two. I will take it all by myself." Then he went back to the other two robbers after buying some food. When he arrived there, they killed him. They threw the food into the pit, where they buried the rich man. And they ran away. Tragically, they also died on the way back home, not being able to spend the money that they had robbed.
