Title La langai a lam (The origin of the name Lhaovo) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
A long time ago, we were from the Share Nhkum clan. We belonged to the Nhkum clan. In the past, one of our grandfathers was a shy man. He avoided crowds. He always hid himself when he was in the crowd. Then people from the Maru ethnic group gave him a nickname 'Lahpaw' because he was always hiding himself. After calling him like that for a long time, the nickname changed to La-waw. Since then, there have been lots of people who belong to the La-waw clan in Sumpra Bum. There are many people who belong to the La-waw clan in Myitkyina as well. We (They) work in governmental departments too. Some people who belong to the La-waw clan are police. Some are doctors. Some work at airports, some are carpenters, and some are engineers. Some are soldiers. There are many people who belong to the La-waw clan. In Sumpra Bum, there is a land named La-waw Land and La-waw village. Labrang Hku is also a place where La-waw people live. Some live in the lower part of Sumpra Bum, too. There are La-waw people in Gam Jawng Land. Now, we live in a place called Dingsa Hkrang. Some live in Share Land too. The number of people who belong to the La-waw clan has gradually increased. Although our clan name is La-waw, we don't hide or are not afraid of crowds anymore. That's how we got the clan name, La-waw.
