Title Kanu a tsaw ra myit (The mother's love) with English translation
Description Translation (Htoi San)
I am telling a story about a mother's love of a widow and her son. A long time ago, a widow and her son lived in a village. The son grew older to be a young man and loved a girl from their village. One day, the whole village went to a fish lake for fishing. The widow and her son also went fishing at the lake, as everyone from their village went there. The widow had lost her sight, so she could not get fish as others did. She could not catch any fish, so she captured giant water crickets, crabs, and something like these beside the water where no one was there. She tried to catch and collect only small fish, crabs, and water crickets the whole day. However, the son got many fish and did not give them to his mother. He gave them to pretty girls and beautiful mothers. He put the fish he caught and put them to those gorgeous ladies. In the evening, everybody finished fishing, and villagers went back to their homes. The son played the flute and wandered around the village during nighttime. He was waiting for someone to call him for dinner while playing the flute, so he walked around the town. Although it was getting dark, no one called him to have dinner at their homes. At that time, the mother cooked the small fish, crabs, and water crickets, which she caught hardly during the whole day, and waited for her son. Her son did not come home early, so she went into the village and called him, "My child! My son! Come home. Come home. Mom has cooked food already." "Come and eat at home. Come and eat with me. Come back. Come back." The mother looked for her son and brought him home to feed him. Her son was sorrowful for what he did and repented. "Today, I did not catch and put fish for my mom. I only put fish on the others. I gave them many fish, and I caught many fish for them, but they did not invite me for dinner. Only my mother feeds me this food. Only my mom loves me. My mother's love is the most real one who always loves me." We got to know that the son felt repentant. Therefore, people should not look at the outer appearance of others to live their lives. The steadfast love is from our mother. We should know and feel the love of a mother like that old widow. We should not look only at the beauty of the skin but look for the love from inside and the true love to make friendship for our lives. We tell the story to our generation to teach them the true love of a mother.
