The story is about two sisters. Once in a village, there were two sisters. They had no parents and lived with their grandmother. They worked on the farm and grew rice plants. Since it was time to harvest, many birds were coming to eat crops. So, they made bamboo clappers to scare the birds. They used it to ward the crops off from the birds. One day, Sanam Num (a nat with long hair and a terrible face) saw that clapper and played it all day long. Then, the grandmother told her two granddaughters, "I will go to the outskirts of the field. Stay at home. Don't open the door for anyone until I arrive." While the grandmother was at the ourskirts of the field, Sanam Num ate her. Meanwhile, the two girls were worried of their grandmother because she didn't come back home yet although it was dark. Sanam Num pretended as the grandmother and knocked the door. And she said, "My granddaughters, I'm home. Open the door." But the eldest sister remembered her grandmother's voice. So, she knew that it was not her grandmother. So, she said, "Your voice is high-pitched. My grandmother's voice is not like yours." Sanam Num said, "No, it's because I shouted a lot today." The girls said, "Okay, then let us see your eyes." When they looked at her eyes through the hole on the door, the eyes were red. They said, "Our grandmother's eyes are not red." Sanam Num said, "It's because my eyes got injured when I went to the outskirts of the field." Then, the second granddaughter believed in Sanam Num and told her sister, "Let's open the door." The eldest sister refused, "No, let's not open it yet." She said, "If you are our grandmother, let us see your hands. Show us." Sanam Num put her hands through the door. They saw there were many hair on her hands. The girls were shocked and said, "Our grandmother doesn't have any hair on her hands. Now, you have lots." Sanam Num said, "It's because I harvested flax and weaved them today." In the end, they believed her and opened the door. But the eldest granddaughter was suspicious of Sanam Num since she was not like her grandmother. Sanam Num, who was pretending as the grandmother, said, "I will let the cleaner one sleep with me tonight." The eldest granddaughter knew that it was a trap, so she applied chicken poops on her body. Then, Sanam Num called the second granddaughter and let her sleep beside her. At night, the eldest granddaughter heard the sound that Sanam Num was eating something. So, she asked her, "My grandmother, what are you eating? I want to eat too." Sanam Num replied from next door, "It's really hard to chew." But the girl kept asking to give her some. Then, Sanam Num said, "Okay, eat some. Here you are." She saw that it was her little sister's finger. She was frightened and said, "My grandmother, I want to go to the toilet." Sanam Num said, "Don't go outside. Just pee here." The girl said, "I am shy." Sanam Num said, "No need to be shy, my granddaughter." The girl insisted going to the toilet, so Sanam Num let her go. But she tied the thread on the girl's finger. She said, "Pee where the thread is end." The girl kept walking till the thread was tight. She tied it to a branch and set it on the ground. Then, she ran away. Then, she climbed the banyan tree and sat at the top of it the whole night. When the sun rose in the morning, Sanam Num woke up and saw the thread tying to the branch. Sanam Num wondered who did that, so she was standing beside it and looked around. The eldest granddaughter was looking at her from the banyan tree and found it funny. Sanam Num heard the laughing sound and searched for it. Then, she saw the girl sitting at the top of the tree. So, she called her, "My sweetheart, come down. Come to me." The girl refused to climb down. But Sanam Num kept calling her to climb down. Then, the girl said, "Wait then. I will pick some banyan fruits to eat." Sanam Num said, "Pick some for me too." The girl replied, "Of course. Open your mouth," and threw fruits into her mouth. She told her, "My grandmother, I will pick a delicious one for you. Can you go and get a knife for me to pick it, please?" Sanam Num took the knife and threw it to the girl. The girl almost got hurt by the knife, but she could catch it safe. Sanam Num said, "Oh, I almost hurt you." The eldest granddaughter said, "It's okay. Open your mouth, grandma." As soon as she opened her mouth, the girl threw the knife toward her mouth. Sanam Num was dead, and nettle plants were growing under the banyan tree where her blood was dropped. The girl was in trouble and didn't know how to climb down without touching those plants. At that time, a group of deer came there. So, she told them, "Can you please remove all those nettle plants?" They said, "We are busy. We don't have time to do that," and walked away. After a few hours, a group of bears came there. She called them and asked for help, "Can you remove all those plants, please? I will give you these banyan fruits. Help me, please." But the bears also refused to help her and said, "We are busy. We have to go somewhere quickly." She was hopeless. At that time, a group of boars passed the tree where she was sitting on. She told them, "Can you help me, please?" They asked her, "What can we help you?" She said, "Remove all those nettle plants, please. I will give you these banyan fruits." The boars helped her and removed all nettle plants. Then, she shook the banyan tree and gave fruits to them. She climbed down the tree and went to the village. She was wearing a dog skin, and turned into a puppy. The villagers saw the puppy, but they didn't care and just walked away. Then, an old couple saw it and felt pity. They took it home. While the old couple went to the field to work, the puppy which was the eldest granddaughter cooked the meal for them. When the old couple came back home, they saw the meal and were surprised. Then, they decided to find out who cooked the meal for them. They were hiding somewhere to catch him or her. They saw that the puppy took off its skin and turned into the girl. They told her, "Oh, little girl, you are beautiful. Why are you hiding yourself under the dog's skin?" She didn't reply at all, remained silent. Then, the old couple burnt the skin when the girl didn't notice. The girl was angry, so she didn't do any housework for them. The couple was upset and tried to talk to her. "What shall we do for you? Shall we teach you how to weave?" asked the couple. The girl felt happy at that time and talked back to them. She said, "Then, make a frame loom with the banyan branch for me, please." The couple made a weaving frame loom for her and taught her how to weave. One night, she went to the lake to carry some drinking water. It was a moonlit night. She saw fairies were coming to the lake to drink water at that night. They were drinking water with their left hands. She said, "Don't drink like that, then you won't be satisfied. Take the water with both hands and drink it." The fairies did exactly what she said and told her, "You are a thoughtful girl. Come with us." She replied, "No, I can't. I have the old grandpa and grandma at home. I can't leave them." They said, "Then ask your grandparents if they would like to come with us. If they agree, we will take all of you." The girl said, "If you are going to take all of us to the moon, can you please take the banyan tree too?" The fairies agreed to take all of them to the moon. That's why we can see an old couple, the girl and the tree in the moon at night. This is the end of the story.
