Title Woi ni num la ai lam (The monkey marriage) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful monkey queen. She prepared to get married soon. One male monkey got to marry her, but he didn't have enough money for bride wealth. He was depressed. One of his relatives told him, "Don't worry. Don't worry too much. Call all of your relatives." All of his relatives from the mountain gathered at his house. Then they thought of an idea. They started collecting many stones. After that, his relatives set the wood on fire. He told his relatives to set the wood on fire and put the stones into the fire. They set many stones on fire and made them hot. Soon, the monkeys from the bride's side arrived there. They placed the hot stones as seats for all the monkeys from the bride's side. They told them, "Take a seat here." They made them sit on the hot stones. Then those monkeys who were sitting on stones burned their buttocks. There was no hair in that area. Those monkeys didn't have any hair on their buttocks. Their butts are red because of that.
