Title Kaja ai bungli galaw ra ai (We Should Do Good) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
The title of the story I am going to tell you is "We Should Do Good." Once upon a time, there were two close friends in a village. They were poor, so they wanted to be rich. One of the friends said, "If we live like this, there is no way our lives will get better or that we will become rich!" He said like that. He said, "Our lives won't be better! I want to be wealthy. Why don't we go work for the rich man who lives at the front of the village? If we work for him, we will earn a lot of money in a month." His friend said, "That's okay. I am happy although I am poor. I am satisfied with what I am doing now." He said to his friend, "Okay. You continue doing what you are doing now, but I will go work for that rich man." Then he left. One day, he went to the rich man and worked for him. The rich man sold drugs and alcohol. He did illegal and harmful things. The boy wanted to get rich and worked for that rich man. He did everything the rich man ordered. When the rich man ordered him to sell alcohol, he did it. When he was told to sell drugs, he did it. He earned a lot in one day. He received a lot of money in a single day. His poor friend worked as a woodcarver. He carved figures of people. He was an honest, hardworking man. One day, the village officials arrested the rich man and the boy for selling alcohol and drugs. They were arrested. They got arrested for doing something bad. The boy said, "We have earned a lot of money, but it does us no good now." He regretted his action. The friend, who worked with his father as a woodcarver, earned less, but he never did anything illegal or harmful. He earned less money in a day. He saved every penny he earned, and over time, he managed to save a lot of money. The boy and his father earned that money through honest and hard work. They could live comfortably with that money.
