The story is about an orphan and Lalawma (the name is given to the boys from the family with many sons). A long time ago, there lived an orphan, and the boys called Lalawma. One day, they went fishing. The orphan had a good fishing rod. But the boys took the broken fishing rods. They robbed the good fishing rod from the orphan and gave him one of their broken rods. "Let's stab the one who gets the least fish in the eyes and leave that person here!" the boys said. The orphan caught the fish the whole day, but he didn't get any. Since the boys used a good fishing rod, they had got a lot of fish. "It's time to go back now. Let's go and stab the orphan in the eyes!" the boys said. They stabbed the orphan in the eyes. An old man came to the orphan when he was left alone near the lake as he got blind. "Dear. What are you doing there?" the old man asked the orphan. Then, he explained how he was stabbed in the eyes. As the old man heard him, he felt so sorry for the orphan and let him make bamboo stripes. After it, the old man asked him to weave an open wicker basket and to collect all the leaves around him into the wicker basket. Next, the old man asked, "What else do you want, dear?" "Grandpa. I want to get my eyesight back," the orphan answered. Then the old man treated his eyes with some medicine and brought the eyesight to the orphan. "Dear. Now you can go back. When you arrived at home, you and your grandmother emptied the basket together in your room," the old man said. The orphan went back home, and his grandmother welcomed him back warmly. In a room, the orphan and grandmother emptied the basket as the old man said. Their house was full of gold and money. They became wealthy. But the boys, Lalawma, set the orphan's house on fire since they were envious of the orphan's wealth. The grandmother and orphan were in great sorrow for losing their house. However, they gathered the house ash. All the ash turned into gold. They became much richer than before. "How do you become so rich?" the boys asked the orphan. The orphan told them about what happened to him after they had stabbed him in the eyes. "Stab our eyes and also leave us there!" the boys said. "If you wish to be stabbed in your eyes, I can do," the orphan replied. The next day, they went to the lake, and the orphan stabbed every single one in their eyes. The boys, Lalawma, waited all day long, but no one appeared. They were in trouble, and soon they all died.
