Title N kaja ai hpe myit hte pyi nmai shut ai (The righteous herdsman) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
There lived a herdsman in a village. He was very polite and humble. One day, he saw an older man fainted on his way back from looking after the buffaloes. He ran to him and raised him up. He worried about the old man and asked, "Are you okay, grandpa? Where are you heading?" The old man said, "On my way to that village. I'm going to donate in the process of repairing the church. I even sold my house and farms to donate there." After he said that, he died on the spot. The boy took that money and went back to his home. On his way back home, he thought, "Should I take this money? No one can know even though I take that money. No one saw that older man too. Anyone doesn't know he has a lot of money. I will be rich if I take all the money." He kept thinking about how he should do. But he reminded himself that he shouldn't make such a big mistake. He thought, "This money is to donate to the church. I will have sinned if I take this money." He decided to give it to the church. So, he went to the chief of the village. He said, "I got this money from an old man from the other village. He was willing to donate the money to repair the church. I'm coming to give you the money on his behalf. The chief praised him a lot. The chief said, "We have got this money because of you. The older man will be happy and blessed in another life. You will get blessings too. We are very thankful that you brought this money to us." He was pleased about the thing he did and went back home happily.
