Title Baren lashoi shoi ai lam (The rabbit and the dragon) with English translation
Description Translation (Dau Hkawng)
Once upon a time, there was a rabbit in a deep forest. When the Rabbit foraged for food and reached into a ravine. There was a mall lake in the ravine. The Rabbit saw a Dragon was living in the small lake. At that time, the Rabbit said to the Dragon, "Oh! My the very great and noble King. And even you are a King as great and mighty as this is living in such a small lake. I'm found a great lake that is really fun and suitable for you." The Dragon delighted the Rabbit's words very much, "O my friend Rabbit, take me to the huge lake you found," the Dragon said. And the Rabbit said, "O King of Dragons! The lake is far away, and it is so far away that no one can go and stay there." With that, the Dragon wanted even more. That's why the Dragon pleaded with him, "Friend Rabbit, take me with you there." So, the Rabbit said, "In case if you can't walk, let me pierce your nose with a rope to be able to pull you. Only then will I be able to pull and take you." So, the Dragon really wanted to go, "Yes do it, do it," he replied. Then the Rabbit put a rope around the Dragon's nose, he did like the muzzle of a bovine to him. The Rabbit pulled a rope around the Dragon's nose and crossed the mountain one by one, one valley after another. They reached a very high mountain. When they reached a very high mountain, there was a large thatch field on the foot of the mount. It was a time when the flowers were in full bloom in that thatch field. With that, the Rabbit said, "O, my great King of Dragons, this is the big lake that I will take with you." When he pointed out, the Sun was shining brightly on the thatch field. It looked like a great sea. When the wind blows on those flowers of thatch field, it was like the waves were rising on the surface of the lake where the Sun was shining brightly. It was as if the waves were moving in the sea. That was what happened to the thatch field. When the Dragon saw it, he wanted to get there. "What a wonderful place to be, My friend Rabbit? Please take it quickly," when the Dragon said so, the Rabbit was about to think to make the plot again. Because the place he was showing was not a large lake but only a large thatch field. "O, my great King of Dragons, you must be overtired now that we have come a long way. Now it looks too far from the lake. "Aw, it may seem too close, but it is too far. So, let me go and see if there are any shortcuts to get there faster. I will tie you under this fig tree so that you can rest. Get some rest, and I would find a shortcut and come back to you," said the Rabbit. When the Rabbit said that, the Dragon replied, "Yes! Ok, Ok." The Dragon believed in the Rabbit's words, so, he was tied up like that. The Rabbit tied the Dragon under the fig tree and he ran away. No matter how long he waited, the Rabbit did not return to him, and his stomach was starving. Hunger and thirst are also close to death. It was only then that he realized that the Rabbit had lied to him when he did not come back, even though he felt thirsty deathly. As a result, the Dragon became very hungry and frustrated and felt upset. "Help me and save me, Heaven and Earth! The Rabbit tied me up like this to be dried," the Dragon cried out. When he cried out for help, the skies became started to darken, and lightning flashed. And it rained heavily for seven days and seven nights. At that time, the Dragon had to drink water again, he regained his strength again. No matter how hard he tried to cut the rope tied to his nose, it would not break. Even the fig tree tied to him almost fell, but the rope did not break. He pulled hard it several times, causing the rope to come out of his nostrils and tore his nose. As a result, he returned to the small lake where he had been living. The Dragon could not stand and implacable the Rabbit that deceived to him, he was plotting and preparing to take revenge on the Rabbit. So, he pretended to be like a plant and waited for the Rabbit by the small lake. One day a Rabbit came to the lake looking for food. Then he saw small plants floating on the lake, "Hum, are the dragon stalking me now? Is it really happening? the Rabbit said to himself. Then the Rabbit shouted to the small plant floating on the water, "If it is a small plant, go up to the headwaters. If it is a Dragon, go down to the water's edge." The Dragon went up to the headwater to consider him the leaves and small plant. When the leaves and small plants moved to the headwater, the Rabbit considered himself, "How will the leaves and small plants go up to the headwater? Yes, it is a Dragon." Then he ran away. After the Rabbit ran away the next day, "Today I will pretend to be dry twigs," the Dragon said to himself. After he was saying that, he pretended to be a dry twig and floated on the water. With that, the Rabbit came back again, and "Is the Dragon lurking around me now? Is it really happening? he considered himself. "If it is a dry twig, immerse them in the water," the Rabbit shouted. If it is a Dragon, go down to the water's edge, he continued. At that moment, the Dragon dived into the water and make it look like a dry twig. "Eh! When did the dry twigs get immersed in the water? Rabbit said to himself. He ran away again. And the Dragon said to himself, "These tiny Rabbit is harassing me like this." Then he was even angrier. So, the Dragon came to the shore of a lake where the Rabbit came and stopped, he climbed the small cliff near the shore and made his mouth look like a small rock. He opened his mouth and waited again. That day, the Rabbit accidentally stood on the Dragon's mouth, which looked like a small rock. He stood there. He fell into the Dragon's mouth. The Rabbit began to think to make the plot again. "Eh, Dragon King! The King, who is as great as the kings, when you eat small animals like us, you could make the sound that "Ar Hum, Ar Hum" and you could make "Ar Hum, Ar Hum," and eat us splendidly," the Rabbit suggested to the Dragon. The Dragon replied, "Yes, of course! If the Dragon does not have glory, who will? When he was saying like that, once he did that, once he did that, "Ar Hum." "All right, well done," said the Rabbit, and he jumped out of the Dragon's mouth. When the Rabbit jumped out, the Dragon chased and bit him, but he could bite and cut only half of the Rabbit's tail. That was why to this day; all the rabbits have only half a tail. And also, the Dragon's nose is still tearing today. Thank you.
