Many years ago, there was a big liar in a village. He could understand the tiger's language. One day, he told the tiger, "Let's go into the forest and hunt." They could hunt a boar that day. Then he told the tiger, "Let me find something to carry the boar." He cut a branch full of spikes. He removed all the spikes of the side he had to carry. But he didn't remove the spikes of the branch from the tiger's side. And they tied the boar to the branch. When they started carrying it, the tiger screamed in pain because of the spikes. It said, "Akalo!" (Akalo is an interjection in Jinghpaw Language.) He said, "Don't say 'Akalo'. The boar meat will be bitter if you say it." He kept saying, "Bear it. Don't say anything." Then they kept going. However, they couldn't reach their house because the tiger was in pain. It screamed 'Akale'. He scolded the tiger, "Don't say 'Akale'! The meat will be sour. Don't say a word. Just carry the boar." The way back home was long, and the tiger was in severe pain. So it screamed 'Akalu'. He said, "Don't say 'Akalu' too. The meat will be bitter." Then the tiger tried to tolerate its pain. When it couldn't keep calm due to the pain, it said 'Akale'. Then he said, "I told you not to say 'Akale'. The meat will be sour!" Finally, they arrived home. The next day, they prepared to cook the boar meat. The man told the tiger, "My friend, go carry some water." The water was a bit far from their house. The man started cooking the meat. He cooked the good part of the meat and ate it alone. He cooked the unfresh part of the meat and the bone for the tiger. He also added some quince and bark to the curry. On the other hand, the tiger was carrying the water. But its water bucket was not full no matter how many times it tried. When it was getting dark, the tiger saw a small animal in the bucket. But the animal easily went through the hole of the bucket. Then it noticed that there were holes at the bottom of the bucket. It plucked some leaves and blocked the holes. And it carried some water and went back to the man. It was already dark when it got back home. It was exhausted and hungry. The man said, "My friend, come eat the meat." The tiger took the biggest cut of the meat and ate it. But the taste was so bitter. It said, "My friend, why is it so bitter?" The man said, "I told you! I told you not to say 'Akalu' yesterday." It didn't say anything and grabbed another piece of meat. It felt only sour taste this time. It said, "My friend, why is the meat too sour?" Then the man blamed the tiger, "I already told you not to say 'Akale' or 'Akalu'. See! The meat has become sour." One day, it was windy and about to rain. At that time, the man lied to the tiger, "My friend, the thunder will strike on us. Let's run away. We must run away to escape from the danger. I don't want to die yet. Let's run away." The tiger believed his lie and asked him, "What shall we do then? Where can we hide?" He said, "Let's hide in the field." He let the tiger hide under the hay in the field. The tiger was so scared that it tried to hide in the deepest place under the hay. When the tiger was inside, the man burned the hay. The tiger felt hot and couldn't hide anymore. So it came out of the hay. It said to the man, "My friend, my whole body is burned. I am in pain. What shall I do now?" Then he said, "Don't worry, my friend. Apply the chilli on your burnt skin. Then you will feel better." The tiger was naive and just believed what he said. It did exactly as he said. Then it felt more burning pain. It just ran to the water and poured some water on its body. But its skin was already burned and some parts of the skin were sore. Since then, the tiger has got some spots and stripes on its body.
