I am going to tell about a dragon from Danai (Danai is a town in Kachin State). In the past, there was a man who went to Danai to find ambers and other valuable stones. But he lost all his money instead of earning much. So, he didn't have any money to go back home. Then he asked for help from the other people. Although he asked for help from his close friends, he couldn't get help. And he asked for help from his relatives too. But they didn't help him. So, he was depressed and didn't know what to do. Then when he slept at night, he dreamt a dream. In his dream, he saw a snotty old man. The man in a black shirt, white trousers, and a cap came towards him. Then that old man asked him, "Why are you sad?" At that time, he said, "I am sad because I don't have any money to go back home." Then, the old man told him, "Don't worry. I will help you." The next day, he went to his work to find amber. Luckily, he got around 2 visses of ambers. But when he sold those ambers, he was ripped off and got only a little amount of money. Although he was the one who put all effort into finding ambers, he didn't get a large amount of money. He was depressed. Then he went to the river and sat beside it. He fell asleep while he was sitting near the river. In his dream, the man who was in his last dream appeared again. And that man told him, "I will help you. Come back here again tomorrow. There will be a fallen tree. Stand up on that and covered your eyes with a red cotton cloth. Don't be afraid, even if it is windy. You don't need to worry, even if there are thunders and lightning. You don't have to be frightened no matter what sound you hear." He believed his dream and went there the next day. There was really a fallen tree at the place where the man in his dream told him to come. The fallen tree was so big that even a bear could stand on it. He climbed on it and covered his eyes with a red cloth. After a few moments, he heard the thunder and lightning. It was raining heavily. But he didn't say a word and didn't move a bit since he was told to do so. Then when he heard someone saying 'you can open your eyes', he opened his eyes. He saw that he was standing in the middle of the plain. He didn't know what had happened to him. Suddenly, he remembered that that plain was the place where he played when he was a child. And this was the way back to his home. Then he went back home on foot. After a few minutes, he reached home. He told about that to his mother. His mother didn't believe it and told him, "My son, did you do something wrong? You said like this not to get punishment, right? Just go away." He also had some gold which his mother gave. He took that gold and went to the people who helped him. He wanted to repay something for helping him. When he reached there, there was a wide lake. But there was no one. Then a letter was fallen from somewhere. In the letter, it said, "I will wait for you. Come here the day after tomorrow." Then he went back home and slept that night. The next morning, he ate breakfast, prepared himself to look good, and went there. Actually, he had to wait one more day. But he went there since he couldn't wait anymore. He found out that the old man who helped him was a dragon. At that time, the dragon was washing his body because he was going to have a guest tomorrow. He saw that dragon while it was washing. When he saw that, he was shocked. He knew that it might be the old man. Although he wanted to give the gold necklace to the dragon, he was scared and couldn't give it. While the dragon was sinking his tail in the water, he took a stick and handed the gold to the dragon. He said, "Here! Take it!" Then the dragon got really angry. It said, "How dare you! I helped you, but now you are scared of me?" The dragon hit that stick with his tail. Then the gold necklace dropped into the lake. The dragon said, "I helped you. Why are you scared of me? And I told you to come tomorrow. Not today!" Then the boy apologized to the dragon, "I am sorry. I was wrong. I was wrong." But the dragon said, "Don't feel sorry now. You didn't keep your promise. I will not talk to you anymore. Go home!" He was driven away. He got a serious illness since he was so frightened. At last, he died. At his funeral ceremony, a little snake came there and went into his coffin. The snake put the gold necklace back and went back to the lake. As soon as it went into the lake, it turned into a dragon. And it thought to itself, "I will not make friends with a human anymore." Since that day, a dragon couldn't be seen, and there weren't any dragons.
