Translation (by Seng Pan)
It was the time before other clan names evolved under Hpaugun clan. A Hpaugun family had 7 sons: Magam, Manaw, Mala, Matu, Matang, Mahka and Mayaw. Later, different clan names were evolved from each son. In the time of Animism, the first son of Hpaugun family was a bit lazy but he liked catching animals by trapping in the forest. Every day he made trap and caught animals. He caught not only fowls but also sambars, deer and boars for living. He made a living in that way. And he spent his life by trapping animals. One day while he was sitting under a big Shadwi tree (It's a kind of tree. Kachin people use its leaves in minced fish dish as it tastes bitter) and peeping at his trap whether the animal was trapped or not, a dried branch dropped on him and he died. And he became Nat (it's a spirit that helps human who worships it). He notified that he would help the people who worshiped and offered the things to him, to get more animals in hunting. That's why the seventh son, Mayaw worshiped him. Not only him but also all the descendants of seven sons, the men who married the widows from Hpaugun family and all other people who took care of lineage had to perform the ritual. They all must follow it. Therefore, Moijang family (in-laws of Hpaugun family) also needed to worship him. But anyone from my family didn't get married with them. So, we didn't have to worship him. We only worshiped and kept the spirits of our deceased ancestors in our home. Only then they will protect us from the disturbances of other evil spirits.
