Once, in a village in a highland area, there were two siblings: Ma Lu and Ma Roi. They were always frightened of everything. We are the kind of people who are afraid of insects such as caterpillars. Ma Lu was so scared of caterpillars. Ma Roi was afraid of worms, which would be dead in soil and not poisonous. The mother was worried that her daughters would be afraid of insects forever. So she tried to teach them not to be scared of insects. Whenever she saw caterpillars or snakes, she called her daughters and said, "Kill this caterpillar. Kill this snake, my daughter." After repeating the same action, Ma Lu, who was afraid of caterpillars in the past, was not scared of them anymore. She became stronger. On the other hand, Ma Roi was still afraid of worms, although she had become a grown lady. One day, one of their relatives took Ma Roi fishing. She was disappointed to go fishing. When they had to find earthworms, Ma Roi was scared to find them. One friend had to find earthworms, which were fish food. Then they went to the lake to catch fish. However, she felt unhappy to go fishing. Anyway, they went fishing that day. She was frightened to touch the earthworms, so she used all her courage and just wrapped them up with a leaf around the hook. The fish ate all of her bait. She repeatedly tried to catch fish, but she couldn't catch any. After a half-day, her friend had already caught lots of fish. Her friend asked her, "How much fish have you caught?" She said, "None." She was embarrassed and disappointed. Her friend asked her again, "Aren't there any fish? Don't you see any ripples?" She answered, "Yes, I saw fish." Then her friend wondered and asked her, "How couldn't you catch any fish then?" She answered, "Actually, I am so scared of earthworms. I wrap the worms with a leaf. And I hang the leaf on the hook." Her friend laughed out loud after hearing her answer. And she said, "You don't need to be scared. The worms can't bite you. If you wrap the worms with a leaf and use it as bait, the fish won't come and eat it. Take a worm and wrap it around the hook like this. When the fish eats this bait, it will be trapped in a fishing lure." Her friend taught her how to catch fish. Later, she could dare to touch the worms. And she knew how to catch fish, too. This story shows us that parents should teach their children who are scared of things that they shouldn't be frightened. We should encourage them not to be scared.
