Title Brangtai ni hpa majaw na galu na myi hkyen mat wa ai (Why rabbits have long ears and red eyes) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
The story I'm going to tell is about why a rabbit has long ears and red eyes. Many years ago, rabbits had grey eyes. Their ears were small too. And the rabbits lived near watermelon fields. They usually ate the watermelons which were not good to sell. They lived there just by eating those. Then there was a little rabbit which was naughty. He didn't listen to his parents' words too. He slept all the time. One day, he bit around 10 or 20 watermelons which were good and pretty enough to sell from the fields. The owners of the watermelon fields were so angry since he bit some. The owners thought, "Ummm, we've grown many watermelons. No rabbit did like this before. But this little rabbit bit most of the watermelons which can be sold out, we have to catch him!" That little rabbit didn't come to the field on the time when the others came, he came around early in the morning. Then the owners planned to catch that little rabbit. One day, they had caught that rabbit. When they caught him, they kept holding his ears one by one because he was the one which bit most of the good watermelons. When one person felt tired of holding him, then another person held his ears again. That little rabbit kept crying and crying. Then his eyes which were grey at first turned into red and his ears were longer than before. Therefore, everyone should follow and listen to our parents' words which mean good for us.
