Title Hkawhkam wa hte myi n mu ai kanu kawa hte kasha (The king and the blind) with English translation
Description Translation (Htoi San)
I am telling a story about a king and a son from blind parents and their family. Once upon a time, a blind couple had a son in a village. There was a pasture for animals at the edge of their village where animals like elks and red deer came and enjoyed their food. The son of the old blind parents liked to hunt a lot. He was very close to the animals from the forest which came to the pasture. He always mingled with those elks and red deer friendly. One day, a king from the boy's country was bored, so he went to the village border. He also knew how to hunt animals. When the king reached the pasture, the son of the old blind couple was also there mingling with deer. When the king looked at the boy, he did not see him as human. He saw the boy as a deer and thought it was meat. He found out the boy was the human only after he shot him. The king knew it was a boy after he died. Therefore, he ordered his ministers to settle this matter. Then, the ministers visited the boy's house to meet with his parents. They told the parents, "Your son had an accident, and he passed away. Therefore, what should we do about that? How much should we pay for it? As you are blind, do you want the king to pay you a gold pot for your son? Or do you want the king to treat your eyes to be seen?" When the ministers asked the blind parents, they were quite smart, although they were blind. The blind parents requested the king like this. "Alright! We both want to see my son carrying the gold pot." The same thing happened as they requested. Although their son died, he was alive. When the son carried the gold pot and came back to the parents, the parents' eyes could see their son. As the couple asked for their son to come back to them carrying the gold pot, the same thing happened. The son was alive and took the gold pot, and the blind couple had their eyesight. The family lived happily ever after.
