Title Nbyen Tawng kaw na nat ni a lam (Spirits in the Nbyen Tawng village) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita)
I would like to tell you about an event which happened in Nbyen Tawng village in Daru Mahka Hkawng zone. You have to be disciplined and can't say bad words when you pass that place. There are many evil Nat spirits and wild animals in that place.People had lots of severe accidents there. Nbyen Tawng village is quite far away from the place where people live. If we come from Myitkyina to go to other places, we have to sleep a night at Nbyen Tawng village. After passing that village, there are some villagers at Lani Sat village. We had passed that way where there were many evil Nat spirits. I'd like to tell you about that. Many people warned us that there were that kind of evil spirit on that way. But we were in a group and thought nothing would happen to us. We decided to sleep there. But because of some young people who didn't follow the rules, we had been haunted.People said that we shouldn't carry water with a pot at night there. But, since there were many people when we were at that village, some were carrying water, some were picking banana leaves and some were collecting woods. While we were sleeping at night, a tiger suddenly appeared and came into the middle of us. We were so shocked and shouted like hell. Then, the tiger went into the forest and disappeared. Not only that, the heavy rain was suddenly pouring at that time.It was a heavy and windy rain. We were frightened the whole night. I had been in that kind of situation. I just would like to share my experience. In Kachin, there are still Nat spirits in some places.
