Title Gaida yen woi dwi a lam (The widow and the grandmother) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
The story I am going to tell you is about a grandmother and her grandson. They didn't have any relatives and lived poorly. One night, a grey-haired old man came to their house and asked for their permission to be their guest. That night, the old man asked them, "Do you have a cock?" They replied, "Yes, we do." Actually, they had nothing. The grandmother secretly got out of the house through the window and asked her neighbour to give her a chicken. And she cooked it for the old man. She prepared rice and delicious curries in the basket and treated him. After the meal, they went to bed. The next morning, the old man had already left. She noticed that he didn't eat anything from the basket. When she unwrapped the packs, everything was gold. They treated him to rice, but what they got was gold. The grandmother and her grandson could live happily without any worries. We should treat everyone nicely, no matter if they are poor or rich. I am reminding you to treat everyone well with this story.
