They planted different vegetables there. After planting paddies, the mother told her daughters, "I will come when it is time to reap the paddies. Three of you stay here and clean the weeds. I will stay at home while raising pigs and chickens." The three sisters were just having fun in the field while eating everything their mother sent. They didn't want to clean the weeds. The mother hung the basket, which was used in planting paddies, onto the tree. She didn't go to the field after planting paddies. When it was time to harvest paddies, other people were harvesting rice and enjoying their moment. Then she asked her three daughters, "Are the paddies ready to reap yet?" They always told her that it was not ready to harvest the paddies yet. The mother told them, "Others have already harvested the paddies and celebrated the Thanksgiving ceremony. There is no way that our paddies are not ready to harvest." In fact, the daughters had already harvested and eaten the rice little by little. There was no rice left in their field. However, the mother didn't know it. So she prepared meals and went to the field to harvest the paddies. When she arrived there, there was nothing except weeds and grass. The field was fully covered with grass. The basket she left on the tree was also high in the sky. The mother felt unhappy and depressed. She told them, "I told you to clean the grass and harvest the paddies, but you didn't." Then she took her basket and split it into two pieces. And she used them as wings and flew away. She became a cicada. The cicadas were lonely in the summer. This is how a cicada has existed.
