Once upon a time, there were an old lady and her daughter-in-law. The daughter-in-law was a wicked woman. The old lady had only one son. And she was her only one daughter-in-law. In addition, the old lady was blind. When the family got a lot of fish from fishing, the daughter-in-law cooked fish and shrimp for her family. She chose the best and biggest. However, she didn't share those fish with her mother-in-law. She always prepared delicious food for her family except for the old lady. And she told her husband, the old lady's son, that she took good care of her. She always said, "I am taking care of her well. I do my best." The husband also trusted her. So, he gave all his attention to work. He was busy with work and could never check his mother in person. All he knew was his wife was taking care of his mother. However, the poor old lady was not taken good care of. She could never have a decent meal. But she always ate what was given since she couldn't see. The old lady was treated that way for many years by her daughter-in-law. But the son didn't have any clues. One day, the son went fishing. And he caught a lot of fish. But the daughter-in-law only gave her the fish heads and bone. And she said, "Mother, it's fish." After some days, the son went fishing again. At this time, he brought his family fishing. The family collected the small fish with hair and other small fish which were not good to eat. After that, they put them in a different bag. The daughter-in-law separated good fish and kept them in a different bag. When the son saw her separating fish, he said, "Those cannot be eaten." "No. They're Ok," the wife replied. Then the husband said, "Uh! Really! I've never tried them before. If we can eat them, let's collect more." Since her husband saw what she did, he hid the bag and took it back home. The husband and his friends caught the fish by blocking the stream. When they got home, the son said, "Mom. I caught the fish you like the most. The one that we had when I was young. Tonight, we are going to have together. Honey! Cook the fish which doesn't has a lot of bone for mom!" The daughter-in-law prepared the food for the whole family as usual. She cooked the small fish and other fish that couldn't be eaten for her mother-in-law. And the family had fish curry. When they had finished having meal, the grandson ran to his grandmother and asked, "Grandma, have you finished having dinner yet?" The grandson saw that the grandmother's food was eaten by caterpillars and leeches. "Grandma, you are eating leeches and caterpillars," the grandson shouted. The old lady stood up and said, "Dear. Why do you give me caterpillars? I can't see. So, I just eat what you gave." And she hugged her. They turned into a big banyan tree. Therefore, people say the banyan tree which is in middle is the daughter-in-law. And the root which hung from the tree is the old lady.
