Title Ja nyi hte ja nga (Ja nyi and Ja nga) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
This story is about how human beings have descended on this earth. There were only Ja Ngi and Ja Nga (humans) on this earth in the past. They were siblings. The earth was completely covered by water. Then, Ja Ngi and Ja Nga didn't have any places to live. They climbed to the top of the mountain in order to run away from the flood. There was a big cave in a mountain where they were climbing. There was a ghoul in that cave too. The ghoul felt pity for them. It told them, "Come here. I will give you a place to hide." The name of the ghoul, the owner of the cave, was Lep La. Ja Ngi and Ja Nga lived there. The ghoul thought humankind would go extinct in the future. So it thought of a plan not to get humankind extinct. It told them, "We don't have anything to eat. Go catch some fish." It made them wear taro leaves. When you touch the water while wearing it, you will feel itchy. It made them wear the leaves and let them catch some fish. They caught a lot of fish. Since they were catching fish while wearing those leaves, they felt really itchy. So, they took their clothes off. Then, they had sexual intercourse. Later, they had a baby. They raised the baby. Since then, there have been many humans on this earth. This is a Kachin story.
