Title Hpu Lum Htu a lam (The man chased by Hpu Lum Htu) with English translation
Description Translation (Htoi San)
The title of this story is a happy family. A long time ago, a family lived together in a place. They were a big family; some boys went to the farm with their father and worked together. The father worked on the farm for a living, and the sons helped him with farming. One day, while the father and his sons were working on their farm, they talked to each other, "Let's go hunting in the forest." Then they went hunting for meat. When they reached a very distant place, there was no reason, and father had a hallucination. Father lost contact with his sons. Due to the hallucination, father tried to go here and there but did not know the way back home. His sons also looked for him, "Father! Father!" Even though they tried hard to call, they could not find their father. The siblings were amazed about their missing father and searched everywhere, "Oh dear, where has my father been?" They looked for him for quite a long time and thought, "Not right! Here is a deep forest, and we cannot stay longer." "Let's go back home." They decided to go home, "Let's wait for Dad from home." Then they went back home. Father was lost in the jungle, which was quite far from his home. Furthermore, it was getting dark, and he could not find his way home. While searching for his way home, he found 'Hpu Lum Htu,' who was tall, her hair was long, and her breasts were long. He was shocked to see 'Hpu Lum Htu' and ran as fast as possible. He ran and ran with all his might, but 'Hpu Lum Htu' also ran very fast. Father went up a mountain as 'Hpu Lum Htu' was so fast. As father was a human and even though he ran as fast as he could, 'Hpu Lum Htu' placed her breasts behind her back and followed him speedily. After that father went down the mountain and he ran at speed. When 'Hpu Lum Htu' ran down after him quickly, she could not chase him as her breasts were so long, and she had to wait for them. Only then father ran briskly, and he could see a path to his village during sunset. He went back, running blindly. Finally, he could reach his way to his village. As 'Hpu Lum Htu' was running down the mountain, she could not run as she needed to wait for her long breasts. Therefore, she had to leave behind on the way down the hill. Father ran vigorously and reached his home. He told his children everything about what had happened to him that day. "Dear children, when you go to that forest again and meet with 'Hpu Lum Htu,' never run up the hill. Run down the hill and escape from her," the father informed and reminded his children. At last, the family lived happily together.
