Many years ago, there was an old couple: grandmother and grandfather in a hamlet. They hadn't got any children. They were farmers. The husband grew plants on a farm and ploughed field to grow grains. His wife raised some chicken and pigs at home. Every day, that grandma and grandpa couple went to the banyan tree which was in front of their house to pray. They offered meals to the nats (spirit) from that banyan tree every morning and night. They always prayed that they were farmers, now they had become older and older, so they wanted to be rich. The nats family from that banyan tree thought about their prayer. One day, when that old grandma and grandpa couple woke up, they bumped into a gold pot in their compound. That gold pot was just beside the ladder. The grandma said to her husband, "Ee.., my darling, it's because we pray every day. The nats gave this gold pot to us. So let's stay rich with this gold." Her husband said Okay to her and went to the farm as usual. When he was on the farm, he thought to himself, "Ummm..., if we have to divide that gold pot in half, it's not enough for me. So I will pretend like crying and angry at her on the reason that she didn't get up early, and I am so hungry. Then I will kill her." Meanwhile, the grandma at home also thought to herself, "Ummm..., I even get that gold pot. Why should I live together with him? I will separate him! After separating from him, I will happily live alone with this gold pot till my last breath." She thought of a plan to kill her husband by putting poison in his meal. Then she implemented her plan and brought poisonous meal for her husband who was on the farm. When she arrived there, she called her husband to come and eat his meal. Her husband pretended to get angry at her as soon as his wife arrived there. He rebuked her, "Why are you being so late? What were you doing at home? You usually bring the meal early. Don't you know that I'm so hungry!?" Then, he killed her with his knife. After he had killed his wife, he ate the meal what his wife brought for him without knowing there was poison in it. Then, both of them died. The nats family from that banyan tree talked about what happened to that grandma and grandpa. They said to each other, "We gave the thing that we shouldn't give them yet. Now, we can't get anything that they offer and there will be no one who will worship us. It was fruitless." Then, the nat husband told his nat wife, "It's you. You wanted to give that gold pot to them. I told you that that old couple didn't have pure mind. Look! Now, we don't have anyone who will offer meals and it was all in vain." In the end, they regretted what they had done and the greediness killed that old grandma and grandpa couple.
