Born and raised in Fiji but now residing in Darwin, the extraordinarily talented and magnetic artist Kaivili is soon to release his debut, self titled album through the Wantok Musik label. Although this is his first solo release, Kaivili is no stranger to writing and performing music on stage; having long been associated with the likes of legendary Fijian group Black Rose, Melbourne-via‐PNG artist Airileke, and Wantok Musik’s live Pacific ensemble, Wantok: Sing Sing. Adept at playing guitar, percussion, and singing alike, he is an enigmatic key player and a powerful force on stage. Kaivili has recently completed recording his long-awaited debut record, promising a fusion of Fijian chants, strong percussive elements, soulful grooves and soaring harmonies native to the region. Kaivili brings to the table a sound that is at once an undeniably unique and impressive, with songs that hark back to Fijian culture with soulful senbilities. Joining Kaivili on this stunning record are the likes of esteemed singing duo Vika and Linda Bull, award-winning Samoan rapper Tha Feelstyle, as well as members of Fiji’s Black Rose with strong production from widely respected PNG musician Airileke. |
