Description |
These recordings were made with Murrungun elder Margaret Rinybuma (MR) and Mapi clan member Eric Pascoe (EP) in Maningrida on 23/NOV/2017, with Margaret Carew (MC) and Isobel O'Keefe (IOK). MC and IOK each recorded on separate devices and a synched audio file (20171123sync-01.wav) is provided along with the separate source files 20171123IO-01.WAV & 20171123MC-01.wav. There is an annotation file that matches the synced file. We discuss various animals and plants. They are specifically labelled as Wurlaki as MR explicitly aims to teach EP the Wurlaki terms (in the contemporary Maningrida context, the local group use Wurlaki as a label for the various Yirritjingi dialects, the language spoken by members of Mapi, Burlkpurlk, Djarriwitjibi and Djalawurwur clan groups, possibly others). Djinang / Wurlaki and English. |
