Title Lapawp Hte Taukawk Shingjawng Hkat Ai Lam | The Race Between the Snail and the Turtle
Description Translation (Nbanpa Rita Seng Mai & Keita Kurabe)
This is a story about a race between a snail and a turtle. Long ago, a snail and a turtle discussed having a race. The turtle thought he would win because he had legs. He proudly said to the snail, "Hey, snail, let's have a race." The clever snail replied, "All right." "But instead of racing on the ground like humans do," "let's race up the surface of a pole." The turtle didn't think much about it and simply believed he would win, so he agreed. So, when they raced up the pole, the turtle, having legs, climbed up very quickly. The snail climbed up slowly. The turtle climbed very fast, but when he got about halfway up the pole, he kept falling off and couldn't reach the goal easily. Even though he got back up and tried again, he kept falling the same way. The snail was very slow, but he never fell off the pole, never looked back, kept his eyes only on the goal, and climbed straight up. In the end, the very slow snail won the race. The turtle, who had legs and had acted proud, lost. So in our lives too, we must not boast about being better than others. No matter how slow we are, if we keep our eyes only on our goal, we can win the race.
