Title Sumbra hte sumtsaw tsaw ai num (Woman who fell in love with the caterpillar spirit) with English translation
Description Translation (Htoi San)
A long time ago, there was a caterpillar who became human during the daytime. At night, he turned into a caterpillar, and he fell in love with a young lady. He turned into a very handsome young man and enjoyed visiting his girlfriend. One day, family members of his girlfriend called him to clear paddy fields. "We are going to cut and clear the paddy fields tomorrow. Let's come with us." The caterpillar indeed came during the daytime, being as the caterpillar, so the girl did not see him and did not know that he came. He climbed trees and cut down the leaves like he was working with them. When he met his girl at night, the girl said, "I asked you to come and help during the clearing of the paddy fields, but why didn't you come?"He answered, "I did come. I collected wood, so I climbed the trees and lopped off the dead branches from the trees." The girl got to know that her boyfriend was a caterpillar. She did not know fastly her boyfriend was a leafworm, so she continued her relationship with him. After she knew about it and she did not want him. As a result, she did not come out or go to him even when he called her. One morning, the boy did not go back and stuck himself in the doorway. The girl thought her boyfriend would not come this time, so she went out to wash her face and brush her teeth in the early morning. So the caterpillar stuck on the girl's breast as she did not come out when he called. She tried to move it away, but she could not take it out. No matter how hard she tried, it adhered firmly. At the time of worshipping spirits, her parents went to the fortune teller to do the divination, but they could not pluck it. So the girl decided to suicide and went to the river where there were many beautiful flowers like balsam and sweet-scented kaempferia. She went close to the flowers and talked to them, "Flowers and buds, you blossom gorgeously in this world. For me, I will flow with the river wherever it leads, and I will flow with the stream wherever it leads." She cried and said to the flowers, "I am going to go along with the stream and follow the river." When she talked using Joiwa language to the flowers beside the river, the caterpillar looked at the situation. When it protruded to look over, the girl pushed down by scraping it. The young butterfly turned into a very handsome boy again and flew along the river. Then the girl also followed him and passed along the river and died together.
