Title Jawgu shinggyim masha ni asak hkye la ai lam (The Kawgu that helped a man) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
The story I am going to tell you is about a millipede saving our lives. A long time ago, the evil nat spirit tried to catch people to eat. It chased people. At that time, the millipede asked the evil nat, "Who are you chasing?" It said, "I am catching humans to eat." Then the millipede said, "If you are going to eat humans, you must count my hands and legs. If you can't finish counting my hands and legs, you can't eat humans." The nat started counting them. While it was counting, it forgot the number that it had already finished counting. It had to start counting the hands and legs again. While the evil nat was counting, the millipede moved its legs to make it confused. While they were busy with counting, humans had already run away. The millipede said to the evil nat, "Since today, you can't eat humans." Humans could escape successfully from the evil. Therefore, our elders said not to kill the millipede whenever we see them. They said, "Don't kill the millipede. They are our saviors."
