Title Lu su ai sahte wa hte grai matsan ai ma a lam (The rich and the poor) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
The story I am going to tell is about the rich and the poor. One day, the poor man went to the rich man to sell his field. No matter how hard he ploughed, he couldn't get good vegetables from his field. So, he sold it. Then, the rich man ordered his workers to remove a big stone in the middle of the field when it was time to plough the field. When they carried that big stone, they saw that there was a gold pot under the stone. As the rich man was kind and good-natured, he called the poor man to come there. The rich man said, "I have got a gold pot from your field. I will give this to you." But the poor man replied to him, "No, I will not accept it. I will take only the price of my field. Since I sold this field to you, that gold pot is yours." The rich man said to the poor man, "No, I didn't give the price for this gold pot. I just gave the money for your field. So, this gold pot is yours." The poor man was so happy. Later, the poor man became rich and lived happily. This story tells us that we shouldn't look down on people no matter how poor or rich they are. If the person is kind and good-hearted, he will give the right price for the valuable things of the poor. The one who is unkind and not good-natured will not give the money for the valuable things of the poor. They might think that is theirs. That's why the poor man and the rich man form this story had happy families forever.
