Metadata Three Ndre Songs, 20141015
This folder contains recordings of three songs - one sound file (rec. by NE on Zoom Handy 4n) and two video files recorded from separate angles by Emil Mittag and Penny Johnson. Song/dances were recorded just on sunset out the front of NE’s village house. The three songs were all composed by the performer, Deyaku Irfai, and commemorate and name three birds (one per song): kakayam, boa and bingongo. Over the preceding days it had emerged that the first two of these have the same name in Nen and the third was related (bingongo in Ndre, gongo in Nen, for the crested pitohui). As requested by Deyaku, sound files of the respective birds were played before each dance to set the atmosphere.
