Description |
Three Emilian maggio performances recorded by Antonio Comin in August 1989 (start partway through tape).
59:11-1:02:14 Context recording of Costabona
1) Maggio Epico 'Roncisvalle', (Costabona) 15/8/89 (1:02:14-2:32:14)
A photocopy of the booklet "Roncisvalle" Maggio di Romolo Fioroni, Complesso della società del Maggio Costabonese (Centro Culturale "A. Benedetti", Villa Minozzo, n.d), has been marked up by Linda Barwick with notes on this performance. The original booklet was passed on to Linda Barwick by Antonio Comin.
The following two excerpts were filmed by Antonio Comin at Villaminozzo (RE) during the Rassegna finale delle compagnie Emiliane on 27/8/1989.
2) 'Angelica Montanini', (Villa Minozzo, Compagnia dei Ragazzi di Costabona) 27/8/89 (2:32:15-3:00:04)
3) 'I due selvaggi' (Monte Cusna company) few minutes 3:00:04-end) (continues on another tape - VT8900)
Note that according to the label of the original VHS copy supplied by Antonio Comin, the 3rd excerpt on this tape was 'Amore Amaro'. This must be a copying error, because the company on this video is definitely Montecusna. The Maggio 'Amore amaro' was performed later in the rassegna finale, by the Val Dolo company (see VT8900).
NB The first part of this VHS tape has been archived as a different item in a different collection (GAC1-12), containing recordings of the premiere of Antonio Comin's 'Ballata grande per Francesco Fantin' (http://catalog.paradisec.org.au/collections/GAC1/items/26) (exhibition and speeches 0:00-13:05; performance 13:05 to 59:11, interrupted by dubbing error 33:08-35:06); followed by an informal singing session circa 1990 with the Italian Folk Ensemble (44:08-59:10). |
