Title Tai Khamyang language class for children
Description The Tai class for children, taught by Chaw Mihingta Chowlik.

The Tai elders, particularly Chaw Mihingta, felt it was important for children to know something about their ancestral language. So he set up a school in the primary school room (which had no electricity) to teach children in the afternoons after school when it was becoming dark.

The contents of this recording are: 0'00" the village school; 0'34" children playing; 1'17" Tai Language Class - opening prayer; 4'42" Chaw Mihingta explaining the Tai letters; 7'17" Teaching Tai words; 11'29" Conversation practice

The original video was recorded on a Sony Digital Handycam TRV1 using a Hi8 video cassette that was numbeed 2002.1
