Extra information recorded
Kirda present are Pamela Nangala, Mary Nangala Ross and Nelly Nangala Wayne. We also went to get Ada Nangala (it is her FFF country) – she was not singing but was actively trying to learn.
Judy Nampijinpa Granites recorded a story (recording 19.12.2006.3) after they had finished singing. I went through this transcription with both Ruth and Jeannie individually a few weeks after this performance. Ruth commented to me when we were going through that this one had easy words – not hard ones like some other yawulyu. Jeannie also said this was an easy one.
Thomas Rice said that the woman who is travelling in these watiyawarnu songs starts at Ngunkurrmanu. She finished at Yanjurrku.
Watiyawarnu are a particular type of seed. Nowadays everybody mixed this up – watiyawarnu has become a general term for many seeds.
