Collection title Sekar Language documentation
Description Sekar (ISO 639-3 code: skz) is a language spoken by communities in Fakfak Regency, Kokas District, including the urban village of Kokas Kota, and the villages of Sisir, Sekar, Sosar, and others, including Ugar village on Ugar Island. This language belongs to the Austronesian language family and is classified as “endangered.”

The collection represents a documentation effort for this language and consists of narrative recordings made during fieldwork in Ugar in February and March 2025.

This research is led by Eline Visser, while data collection in the field was conducted by Dendi Wijaya. The data collection took place on Ugar Island, one of the islands inhabited by speakers of the Sekar language in Fakfak Regency, West Papua Province.
