Once upon a time, there was a grown, married man. He had a daughter. When the daughter was about two or three years old, her mother passed away. However, the man couldn't raise the daughter alone, so he remarried. He had another child with his second wife. The stepmother always made the first daughter look after her own child. The father often went hunting in the forest and often caught francolins and pheasants. Then his second wife cooked the meat. But she gave the elder daughter only garcinia paniculata fruit and told her it was francolin meat. And she and her own daughter ate the meat. She lied to the elder child and fed her the sour fruit, saying it was meat. The elder girl simply thought, "The francolin meat is so sour." Whenever her younger sister cried while she was taking care of her, she tried to comfort her, saying, "My beautiful sister, don't cry. Don't cry." The sound of francolins could be heard near their village. The francolins were calling, "Sha gaw! Sha gaw!" She knew that it was the sound of the francolin. Then she said, "My younger sister, don't cry. The francolins can be heard nearby." She was soothing her younger sister, trying to keep her from crying. The stepmother was mean. Some people who had heard this story used to say that garcinia paniculata fruit was francolin meat. If someone is mean, the story about them turns out badly. Therefore, we should behave properly. We should respect and fear God. This story is passed down among the Jinghpaw people. This is a short story, but it is easy to remember and teaches valuable lessons. The meaning of the story is to have a pure heart and honesty.
