Title Hpaji grai chye jaw ai gumra (The horse that advised the cow) with English translation
Description Translation (Htoi Awng)
Once upon a time, there was a wealthy man in a village. He had many fields and owned a horse and a cow. The man only rode the horse when he needed to go out. The horse could live happily. But, the cow had to work hard on the farm. The cow did not even have time to rest. So, it was jealous of the horse. One day, it went to the horse. In the past, people could understand the animals' language. The cow talked to the horse, "My friend! You can live happily and can eat the best food. But, I have to work the whole day on the farm. I am so tired." Meanwhile, the owner was coming to the shed to feed them. He heard their conversations. The horse suggested, "If you want to stay like me, I will give you an advice." The cow said happily, "Tell me, please. What should I do?" The horse said, "You pretend like you are sick when you need to go to the farm tomorrow. No matter how hard the owner beats you up, don't walk and just lie down. Then, he will not let you work." The next morning, the owner dragged the cow first to plough on the farm. The cow was pretending like it was sick. The man beated the cow for many times. But it didn't walk. So, the man dragged the horse to plough on the farm. After working for three days on the farm, the horse was exhausted. It thought, "I have to work this hard because I gave an advice to the cow." It regretted it. So, he searched for an idea. The next day, the horse went to the cow and said, "My friend! I am just coming back from the farm. I overheard the owner saying that he will send you to a butcher if you are still sick." The cow was so scared. It decided not to pretend anymore. When the man went to the shed the next day, the cow quickly got up and followed the owner. We could face the bad thing if we gave the bad advice to our friends. So, we need to think carefully before giving the advice to friends.
