Once upon a time, there was a family: a father, a mother, and their son. The parents loved their son so much. The child was well-mannered. One day, both parents passed away because of an unexpected accident. After his parents died, he didn't want to live in that house anymore. So he thought, "If I live here, I will keep mourning my parents. I will feel lonely. I should not live here. I should move out." Then he decided to move out of the house and tried to find a new one. He built a small house in the field and stayed there. He worked as a wood collector. He earned three kyats (Myanmar Currency) a day. He made a living in that way. He was satisfied with his life. He liked his job. He was a helpful man and had a pure heart. One day, he went to the market with the wage he earned. At the market, he saw his friend take the cat with him. He saw his friend carrying the cat at the market. He asked him, "Where will you take the cat?" His friend said in a depressed voice, "I am going to tie a stone to the cat's neck. And I will kill it in the river." Then he said, "No. Just give it to me. I will take your cat. How much do you want?" His friend said, "Okay, then take the cat. Give me two kyats for it." He bought the cat from his friend. He raised the cat with care and love. He bought some rice with one kyat, which was the amount he left. They shared the rice. They shared the cooked rice. However, he was so happy to have the cat. The next day, he started his work again. When he came back home in the evening, he saw another friend of his. His friend was taking the dog somewhere. Then he asked his friend, "What will you do with that dog? Where are you going to take it?" "I am going to send it away," he answered. He said, "Then I would like to take that dog." He gave two kyats to his friend and bought it. And he bought some snacks with one kyat he had. At home, three of them shared the snacks. The next day, he went out to collect some wood. He met a beautiful girl at the place where he was working. She was holding a stick. There was a snake at the top part of the stick. He asked her, "What are you going to do with it?" She said, "I'm going to kill this snake. I caught this snake. And I will kill it." He stopped her, "Please don't do it. I will take this snake." Like before, he bought the snake with the exchange of two kyats. He set the snake free at a pleasant place. And he went back home. After two days, he heard a knock at his door early in the morning. When he opened the door, he saw the snake he had released. There was the snake in front of his house door. He knew that it was the snake he had rescued before. The snake was wearing a hoop on its neck. It was like a ring. The snake said, "I am so thankful to you, so I am coming here to show my gratitude." At that time, he asked, "How are you going to show me your gratitude?" The snake said, "Wear this ring on your finger. And spin it around. Your wish will come true." He said, "Okay. I trust you. I will ask to fulfill one wish. It's been a long time since we can't eat delicious meal. I want to eat some delicious food. May the food I want appear on my table right now, right here." Surprisingly, there was delicious food on his table, right in front of him. He ate it deliciously. Three of them: he, the dog, and the cat went to the girl who sold the snake. When they arrived there, he met the girl. She asked him, "How does a poor dirty man like you dare to come to my house!? How dare you! Why are you asking for money from me? You, such a beggar!" He said, "I am not a beggar. I can have whatever I want now. I am nothing now because I don't ask for anything yet. If I want a brick house, I can get it now." She was so shocked to hear it. She asked him, "Why is that?" He was pure and innocent, so he showed her the ring. He showed it to her and explained, "I can ask anything I want just by spinning this ring." She was greedy and wanted to own it. She wanted it so much. She said, "Then can you lend me your ring for a while?" When she asked him to lend her the ring, he didn't think twice and lent it to her. She had already learned how to use the ring. She spun the ring around and said, "Send this man to the jail!" When she said it, there was suddenly a strong wind. The wind dragged the man to the jail. At that moment, the cat and the dog were trying to save their owner. They were following him where he was taken. The man really got into the cell of the jail. Then the cat and the dog were thinking of a way to save him. They discussed, "How shall we save our owner?" They said, "We need to think of a way to save him." They were thinking hard to find a way to save him. The cat told the dog, "I will distract the guards. Go into the jail secretly while I am distracting them." The cat tried its best to distract the guards. It sat on the guard's lap and tried to get attention from them. While the guards were looking at the cat, the dog secretly went into the jail. It went to its owner. It asked the man, "How are you going to do?" He was crying and said, "My life is going to end in this cell of the jail." The dog comforted him, "Don't worry, my lord. You are our benefactor. We will save you this time. Just wait for us. We will definitely get you out of the jail." And it secretly went out of the jail. The guards were playing with the cat and didn't see the dog. As soon as the dog went out of the jail, both the cat and the dog quickly ran away. They took a rest in the middle of the way going back home because they were exhausted. They saw a tortoise being on its back by the water. They tried their best to flip the tortoise over by using their legs. However, they couldn't. When it was getting dark, the tortoise said, "My friends, just push me into the water. Push me there." Then they pushed the tortoise into the deep water. And they went back home. On their way back home, they had to go over the bridge. At that time, a group of mice went over the bridge. A mouse groom and a mouse bride were getting married. There was a mice couple. The cat and the dog were plotting secretly. Then the cat stopped the way of the mouse bride and threatened her. At that time, the mouse groom said, "Don't threaten my bride!" He continued, "What are you? Why are you threatening my bride?" The mouse groom said like that to the cat. The cat said, "Human calls me 'Lanyau' (lanyau means 'cat'). My name is Lanyau. I am going to eat your bride because I am a cat." The cat said, "Please, don't eat my bride. I am the mouse king. She is my wife-to-be. I will give you everything you want and make everything really happen for you. Just don't kill my wife, please." The cat asked him, "How are you going to help me? What can you give me?" The cat asked the mouse king. The mouse said, "Just tell me what you want." The cat said, "There is something I want in your country. There is a woman who has a ring I want. She has the ring I want. If you can take it for me, I won't eat your bride." The mouse king said, "Okay. I will get it for you." And he called a meeting. He ordered the smallest and strongest mouse to get the ring. Then the smallest mouse went to the woman who had the ring. She lived in a big place like a palace. The mouse went closer to that place. The woman lived in an enormous palace. She created it with the power of the ring. She lived like a queen with many serving servants. She was peacefully sleeping that night. The bravest mouse saw a woman sleeping on a beautiful bed and bedframe. He was looking for the ring. He thought, "The ring must be on her finger. She might wear the ring." But he couldn't find the ring. He was depressed because he couldn't find it. He thought, "The ring is really valuable. She might keep it in her mouth. How could I take it out?" He couldn't think of any ideas. At last, he got an idea. He thought to tickle her nose by using his tail. He thought, "When she feels itchy, she will sneeze. Then the ring will be out of her mouth." He actually tickled her nose because he thought it might work. Soon, she sneezed hard. The ring fell out of her mouth. Then the mouse quickly took the ring and ran out of the palace. He took it to his king. The mouse king gave the ring to the cat and the dog. The cat and the dog felt relieved after getting the ring. They went to their owner to save him. On the way, they had to cross the river. They had to cross the river. While they were crossing the water, a strong wind was blowing. The cat was holding the ring. While they were in the middle of the water, the strong wind was blowing. Then both of them were drowning in the water. When they were drowning, the ring in the cat's mouth fell into the water. The dog held the cat tight so as not to sink into the water. It saved the cat. However, they were depressed because they lost the ring. They said, "We lost the ring. What shall we do now? How can we save our owner?" They didn't know what to do and just sat down. When the wind stopped, a tortoise appeared in front of them. It turned out it was the tortoise that they saved before. The tortoise was biting a ring. They took the ring from the tortoise and went to save their owner happily. They distracted the guards and sneakily went into the jail. It was pretty hard for them to get into the jail secretly that time. It was difficult for them to get in. They were surrounded by the guards, but they could manage to distract them. The dog gave the ring to its owner as soon as it met him. The owner took the ring, and three of them went to the woman who made them like this. They went to the palace where she lived and said to her about them. Then she begged them, "Please forgive me. I regret everything I did to you. I regret everything. I did wrong to you. Please forgive me." He was angry and furious about what she did to him. When she said to forgive her, he was in a difficult situation to decide. However, he spun his ring and said, "A woman like you doesn't deserve this nice life! May you be a frog!" The woman turned into a frog. He happily lived with his cat and dog in that palace with a lot of servants working for them.
