Description |
This collection consists of video and audio recordings that illustrate Kua'nsi language use in different settings and some aspects of Kua'nsi culture. They are the results of Huade Huang's PhD project on documenting and describing Kua'nsi. Most recordings were collected by Huade Huang between 2018 to 2020 and some of them were collected by Xiongxin Jiao between 2020 to 2021 with instruction from Huade Huang. All recording sessions were held in Kua'nsi villages in Heqing County, Yunnan Province, China.
These recordings are organised into items based on the stimuli or the theme of recording sessions. Different recording sessions are indicated by the date in the file name. If different sessions on the same date were recorded for the same stimuli or task, a number indicating the recording session is included after the date in the file name.
The detailed file naming convention is shown below:
HH1-[item no.]-[date of recording]_[session no.]-[device abbr.][int/ext]_[speaker abbr.]
- HH1: the collection ID
- [item no.]: the item number as in the collection
- [date of recording]: the date when the recording was made in YYYYMMDD format
- [session no.]: session number is included in the file name if multiple recordings were made on the same data
- [device abbr.]: the abbreviation of recording devices: 'h5' for Zoom H5 handy recorder; 'xa' for Canon XA20 camera. This information is not included in the file names since the item YKN005.
- [int/ext]: internal or external microphone.
- [speaker abbr.]: the abbreviation of speakers' names.
