Description |
Kuanua= Tolai, the Austronesian language centred on Rabaul and the Gazelle Peninsula, New Britain, PNG. -- Teop - Austronesian language of the north-central and north-east coastal regions of Bougainville, PNG. -- Ancient Greek - probably extracted from a recording based on a textbook by Rouse. -- Baniata - written elsewhere as 'Banyata', a Papuan language spoken in the lower two thirds of Rendova Island, Central Solomons. ' Kari' refers to John Kari, a chief of the Baniata side of Rendova island. Note in box replicates index information but after Side 2, entry is added 'Chn talk', where Chn=children. See also tapes 004 to 006, 111,113.
Although tape box indicates Kuanua, native speaker of Kuanua (Steven Gagau) can not identify any Kuanua on either Side A or B. He notes that at some point on Side B the researcher introduces a language in Lumi District, West Sepik |
