Radio Vanuatu Program covers a 10-part series on the subject of drinking 'kava' in Vanuatu. This first part is the introduction how it came to Vanuatu from various islands of the country then later discussion with various speakers their experiences of its taste, its effects of it as a drink compared to alcohol (beer, spirits), how they think of it as a social, traditional and ceremonial drink - a good or bad thing etc..
The later parts of the subject of kava to be further discussed in panels on the impacts or effects socially in relationships within family, amongst others in the community, what benefits there are health-wise and economically as a source of income and at a country level as an export commodity.
The introductory discussions of personal experiences and perspectives drinking kava in 'nakamals' or kava bars in this recording has set up more to explore in the later parts of the radio program.
