Word list - 16 recordings with a word list comparing the Wancho language as spoken in Kamhua Noknu village with the list in Burling and Mankai (1998) 'Wancho Phonology and Word List'. Linguistics of the Tibeto-Burman Area 21(2) (1998). The words were recorded in the order they are listed in Burling and Mankai, -01, from 'husband' to 'grandchild'; -02, wordlist from 'cooking pot' to 'window'; -03 wordlist from 'fence to 'drum', -04, from 'flute' to 'language and the word for 'Wancho language'; -05 from 'life' to 'yellow'; while explaining the word for 'yellow' Banwang speaks out the three possible tones as a way of checking that the tone which has been written is correct; ; -10 from 'bitter' to 'sweet'; discussion of alternative forms of 'sweet'; -11 from 'big' to 'empty', finished with a discussion of the difference between əkõ³ and kəkõ³; -13 from 'fast' to 'fat', including discussion of tone alteration; -14 from 'little amount' and 'flexible' to end of adjectives ("young (of people)'; -16 from the verbs, 'able', and discussion of the verbal paradigm. This arose because the first few verbs were with given with pu² a past tense marker; -17 from 'ask question' to 'break'; -18 from 'breathe' to 'descend'; -19 from 'cough' to 'descend'; -20 from 'die' to 'rub'; -21 from'rule over' to 'show'; -22 'from 'sing' to 'yawn'; -23 from the classifiers to the end of the list |
