Title Gun-nartpa hunting roleplays
Description These recordings came from the Maningrida Action project, part of the Iltyem-iltyem sign languages project. There are 7 hunting roleplays that were performed by Dorothy Galaledba and Janet Gumbiyarra in Maningrida in August 2017, and were recorded by Margaret Carew and Jenny Green. The women act out how women would go hunting for different bush foods. Because this was a sign language project, they emphasise the signs and actions involved in these scenarios, particularly the kinship signs.

The roleplays were filmed on 2 cameras and made into short films. Margaret Carew did some additional work on annotating these films for the Burarra and Gun-nartpa dictionary project and this item contains the original edited films and some more recent annotation files. Exported clips have been added to Gijingarliya Wengga, the online Burarra and Gun-nartpa dictionary: https://www.janguny.com/
