Title Lanyau Chyau Hpa | The Brave Cat
Description Translation (Nbanpa Rita Seng Mai & Keita Kurabe)
The story I'm going to tell is about a brave cat. Once upon a time, there was a man. He had a cat and wherever the master went, the cat followed. When he went to the field, the cat followed too, and helped with whatever work the master did. They lived like this for a long time, but day by day, the cat grew older. Its fur fell out, and when it was no longer beautiful, the master stopped giving it food. He stopped giving the cat food and took it to the forest and left it there. Then the cat said, "My master must hate me and has abandoned me." So when the master went home, the cat didn't follow him. After the master returned home, the cat also went back to the village. When it reached the master's house, it thought, "Hm... my master hates me." "He threw me away in the forest." "He won't like it" "if I go into the house." "But I'm so hungry." "Where can I go to find something to eat?" Then it remembered there were many rats in the master's granary. "I must catch and eat those rats," it thought. "If I don't, the rats will eat all of my master's rice." So the cat went to the granary. When it arrived, it pretended to be dead. When the rats saw it, they said, "The cat who always chased us is dead!" They were all overjoyed and decided to put the cat's body in a sack and bury it in a hole. They discussed. So they put the cat into a sack and began dragging it to the hole. Just then, the cat suddenly sprang up on purpose and ate all the rats. After that, the cat's stomach was full, and no rats ever came to the master's granary again.
